Desde 2019, el departamento de SCADA y Telecontrol de CT cuenta con un Laboratorio de Pruebas en su sede de Madrid. El laboratorio nace con la idea de tener en un entorno aislado una copia del Centro de Operaci\u00f3n de Renovables (CORE) de Iberdrola, para los desarrollos e implantaciones que realizamos para ellos: parques e\u00f3licos, subestaciones y solares, entre otros. Desde el CORE se opera, monitoriza y realiza el mantenimiento de m\u00e1s de 400 instalaciones de renovables en Espa\u00f1a.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

M\u00e1s tarde se han ido uniendo al entorno de pruebas otros clientes como GAMESA- para el que realizamos trabajos de integraci\u00f3n de subestaciones- y el resto de CORE de Iberdrola en UK (Glasgow), USA (Portland), Brasil (Rio de Janeiro).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Iberdrola tambi\u00e9n opt\u00f3 por hacer pruebas de interoperabilidad para los nuevos equipos de adquisici\u00f3n de datos que diversos fabricantes quer\u00edan integrar en las Subestaciones, al contar con el entorno adecuado.<\/p>\n

En primer lugar, tener un laboratorio propio de Telecontrol nos permite trabajar en un entorno lo m\u00e1s fiable y similar a c\u00f3mo se van a desarrollar los proyectos en campo<\/b>: en este caso, a c\u00f3mo van a ir las comunicaciones entre las turbinas de un parque e\u00f3lico y el centro de control. Por otro lado, nos permite hacer pruebas de nuevos equipos<\/b> de subestaciones antes de instalarlas en ellas, algo que cada vez m\u00e1s nos piden nuestros clientes.<\/p>\n

\u2022 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u00bfQu\u00e9 tareas est\u00e1is llevando a cabo en el laboratorio?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Actualmente estamos realizando tres tipos de tareas: pruebas de funcionalidad para Generaci\u00f3n Hidr\u00e1ulica con tres equipos compuestos por dos personas cada uno, desarrollos de nuevos parques para Iberdrola y configuraci\u00f3n de servidores para Iberdrola Renovables. El sistema SCADA del que somos desarrolladores principales para Iberdrola y Gamesa es PCVUE, una plataforma SCADA que se encuentra en sus centros de control y que gestiona cientos de instalaciones de generaci\u00f3n a la vez. Tambi\u00e9n utilizamos las herramientas que soporta este sistema como SQL, Servidores OPC, Simuladores de comunicaciones IEC101 e IEC104, todo bajo Windows.<\/p>\n

Port Augusta:<\/b> Desarrollo de un regulador hibrido para la integraci\u00f3n de una planta fotovoltaica y un parque e\u00f3lico en Australia.<\/p>\n

Proyecto T\u00e1mega:<\/b> Desarrollo e instalaci\u00f3n del Sistema Scada para las centrales de Alto T\u00e1mega y Gouvaes, que se engloban dentro del macro proyecto T\u00e1mega y consta de tres centrales, las dos mencionadas y Daevoes (1158 MW instalados y 1760 MWh).<\/p>\n

Parque e\u00f3lico marino Saint Brieuc:<\/b> Desarrollo e instalaci\u00f3n del Sistema Scada para este parque situado a 16 km de la costa francesa y que cuenta con 62 Aerogeneradores y una potencia instalada de 500 MW, adem\u00e1s de la subestaci\u00f3n y los servicios auxiliares<\/p>\n

Tener un entorno de pruebas espec\u00edfico es algo que no todas las empresas tienen y que para un cliente como Iberdrola o Gamesa, tiene una importancia vital antes de integrar una instalaci\u00f3n en el entorno de Producci\u00f3n. Comprobar que los mandos de una compuerta en una\u00a0<\/span>presa se comportan como deben, que un parque pueda parar cuando Red El\u00e9ctrica lo demanda o que un generador produzca los megavatios que REE indica para no sobrecargar la red, es fundamental. De ah\u00ed que contar con este tipo de entornos aporta un valor a\u00f1adido enorme al departamento, adem\u00e1s de un banco de pruebas y de aprendizaje para todos nosotros.<\/p>\n

\u2022 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u00bfDe qu\u00e9 manera contribuye la operaci\u00f3n remota a la eficiencia y sostenibilidad de los procesos de los clientes?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Disponer de un sistema de monitorizaci\u00f3n y telecontrol permite visualizar en tiempo real las variables e indicadores energ\u00e9ticos de las instalaciones de generaci\u00f3n, detectando al momento cualquier incidencia y haciendo m\u00e1s efectiva su resoluci\u00f3n. Por ejemplo, los parques e\u00f3licos no suelen estar en sitios accesibles y su operaci\u00f3n in situ las 24 horas del d\u00eda, 365 d\u00edas al a\u00f1o es imposible. O m\u00e1s claramente, los parques e\u00f3licos marinos, que tienen una capacidad de generaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s grande y se encuentran cada vez m\u00e1s alejados de la costa.<\/p>\n

La operaci\u00f3n remota nos permite ayudar a nuestros clientes a cumplir sus objetivos en materia de sostenibilidad. Por ejemplo, estamos ayudando a DATA4 a mejorar la eficiencia energ\u00e9tica de su centro de datos de Madrid, a trav\u00e9s del mantenimiento de su sistema BMS (Building Monitoring System). Cada vez m\u00e1s empresas tienden a implementar un sistema de monitorizaci\u00f3n y telecontrol y es algo que estamos planteando para nuestras propias sedes tanto en Espa\u00f1a como en el resto de pa\u00edses donde operamos. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Remote Control and SCADA Department opened its Testing Lab at CT\u2019s headquarters in Madrid back in 2019. The Lab\u2019s goal is to replicate the Renewable Energies Operations Centre (CORE, in Spanish) of Iberdrola in isolation for when we develop and implement projects for them, including wind farms, substations, and solar plants. More than 400 renewable energy facilities across Spain are operated, monitored, and serviced from the Operations Center.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Over time our testing facilities have also been utilized by other clients, like GAMESA\u2014for which we do substation integration work\u2014, as well as by the remaining part of Iberdrola\u2019s CORE in the United Kingdom (Glasgow), the United States (Portland), and Brazil (Rio de Janeiro).<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Iberdrola also carried out interoperability tests for the new data acquisition equipment that various manufacturers intended to integrate into the Substations, since the right environment was available.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is the purpose of having a lab such as this?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

First of all, having our own Remote Control Lab allows us to work in an environment that is as closely comparable as possible to how projects will be developed in the field<\/strong>. In this case, it is about knowing how data will be transmitted between the turbines of a wind farm and the control centre. The Lab also allows us to test new <\/strong>substation equipment <\/strong>before installation takes place, which is something our clients increasingly demand.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What kind of tasks do you undertake in the lab?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We currently undertake three types of tasks: functionality tests for Hydraulic Generation with three teams composed of two people each; development of new farms for Iberdrola; and configuration of servers for Iberdrola Renovables. We are the main developers of PCVUE for both Iberdrola and Gamesa. This SCADA solution is available at their control centres and makes it possible to manage hundreds of generation facilities at the same time. We also use the tools supported by that system (SQL, OPC Servers, IEC101 and IEC104 communication simulators) in Windows.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Not all companies have a specific testing environment, but this is vital for clients like Iberdrola or Gamesa when they are trying to decide whether or not to integrate an element into the Production environment. Making sure that the gate controls of a dam work as they should, that a farm is able to halt operations as soon as Red El\u00e9ctrica (REE) so demands, or that a generator produces as many megawatts as REE indicates to avoid overload is key. That is why having this type of environments adds great value to the Department, and also serves as a test bed and learning tool for all.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 How does remote operation make customer processes more efficient and sustainable?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Having a monitoring and remote control system in place helps visualize variables and energy indicators in real time at power facilities, immediately detecting incidents and making their resolution more efficient. For instance, wind farms tend to be located in inaccessible areas, where it is quite impossible to conduct operations on site 24\/7\/365; or more specifically, offshore wind farms, whose generation capacity is larger, but which are located at ever greater distances from the shore.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Remote operations allow us to help our clients reach their goals in terms of sustainability. For instance, we are helping DATA4 improve energy efficiency at their data center in Madrid by providing maintenance to their Building Monitoring System (BMS).
