Since 2016, we have been working with Talgo to develop machinery to maintain rolling stock, such as pit lathes (CNC machines that profile the wheels without having to disassemble the train axles), measuring equipment (which make it possible to detect any anomalies in the rolling with the train in motion) or towing trolleys (designed to move car compositions without any type of coupling). Our main task is to help develop these machines as quickly as possible, standardising components and shortening design times.

Talgo’s maintenance equipment is supplied to railway operators around the world and covers all of the areas needed to keep the railway fleet in perfect conditions of safety and quality.

CT has participated actively in the engineering and interior design of the next generation of Spanish high-speed trains –AVE-, known as Talgo Avril. A high-capacity, high-speed train that not only transports the largest number of passengers in each service, but also allows for faster loading and unloading and is fully configurable.

But while transporting more than 600 passengers at 330 km/h is the Talgo Avril’s main advantage, it’s not its only one: it’s the lightest very-high-speed train in the world, which has posed a real challenge for both Talgo and our team.

At CT, we’ve put all of our capabilities for basic and detailed engineering for the design of interior panels, ceiling structures, design and calculation of luggage racks and storage, design of front panels, etc., applying the latest technologies in this sector.

Germany is in the process of decarbonising its means of transport and its long-distance train network is being developed based on this premise.

Through Talgo, CT is collaborating on the development of the interiors of these trains, designing and industrializing the interiors, fairing design, support, luggage racks, floors, ceilings, front panels, etc.

We are also supporting the factory to manage modifications that are detected in the assembly lines.

In addition, Egypt’s national railway company, ENR, is developing its long-distance rail network, some 1000 km of track along the Nile River. For this project, ENR has contracted Spanish company Talgo, with which CT collaborates, to develop the interiors of these cars.

Activities such as the design and industrialisation of interior elements, fairing design, support, luggage racks, floors, ceilings, front panels, etc., are some of the activities in which CT is actively participating.

Since 2012, we have collaborated with Talgo on what is probably the most demanding technological challenge in railway history to date: to provide a fleet of high-speed trains, capable of operating at 300 km/h in the most inhospitable environment on earth.

We have been actively involved in the engineering and interior design of the Haramain High Speed Railway project, which today connects the cities of Medina and Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

With 10 cars per composition, the 35 compositions that make up the ambitious project required special know-how and optimal adaptation to the severe climatic conditions that characterise the 450-kilometre route, such as temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, or sand and dust in the air.

On the basis of the exterior design, our team developed the interior mechanical design and made the necessary modifications in accordance with factory standards. We have used all our capabilities for basic and detailed engineering for the design of interior panels made of fibreglass composite material, design of roof structures, design and calculation of luggage racks and luggage compartments, design of end walls, etc., applying the latest technologies applied in this sector.

Following Talgo’s design guidelines and requirements, we are in charge of the complete design and industrialisation of all the interior composite components, as well as the design of all the supports, the coach interfaces, the feasibility of assembly and the technical documentation of the aforementioned parts. We also work hand in hand with the Talgo team in the deployment of all modifications derived from the coach manufacturing and assembly process.
